2016 has been a time for e-cig and vapor. In an industry with advanced technology moves pretty quickly and this year has been zero exemption. Over the past ten months, sub-ohm vaping has been the primary development, and it shows no sign of letting up. Sub-ohm has traditionally been more of the preserve of vapers using mechanical mods. This year though has seen an outburst in the numbers of its users, thanks to rising of sub-ohm capable box mods, also the dozens of tanks offering pre-built sub-ohm coils and high airflow which have sprung up in support.
What is sub ohming and why should you care? Sub-ohm vaping refers to using a tank fitted with a coil rated at less than 1.0Ohm. The resistance of the coil is such that it can produce much more vapor per puff than a regular tank and more puff means bigger cloud. Sub-ohm capable tanks, such as the Kanger Subtank or Aspire Atlantis, are also fitted with much greater airflow, which helps to produce more vapor. The increased amount of vapor which is achievable also means that the vapor itself is normally warmer than usual. This can be prevented somewhat by using a tank fitted with adjustable airflow. Enhanced vapor also often will mean the richer flavor. Also, more throat hit. There is another view which says that mouth to a lung or non-sub-ohm tanks will produce more flavor to vapor being held in the mouth before being passed to the lungs. The increased vapor production is achieved by coupling a coil which reaches greater temperatures (sub-ohm) with a high airflow tank. Much airflow is required to improve the air that generates in the vapor, and it also helps to cool the vapor down. Without enough airflow, the vapor will heat up too much, and the taste can become somewhat unpleasant. This additional vapor has to come from somewhere, however. Sub-ohm vaping will consume eliquid much more quickly than a regular set-up. This means that you will have to refill more often, but it also means that you will be inhaling more nicotine per puff. This in turn significantly increases throat hit, which is why most users will naturally step down the strength of the e-liquid they use to accommodate. It is not unusual for vapers who had been using 18mg or above to measure right down to 6mg – vaping 18mg e-liquid at sub-ohm levels will most likely be very uncomfortable for most people. There’s also something incredibly satisfying about being able to produce billowing white clouds of vapor, though it may not always be socially acceptable to act so. Mouth to lung vs. Direct lung inhalation Something which many vapers may not even think to consider is how they vape. No matter what you prefer to use, vaping involves inhaling vaporized e-liquid. Mouth to lung kits are devices that have tighter airflow than Subohm kits in order to more closely replicate a cigarette style draw from your device. Mouth to lung vapes are often used in the same way Pod kits and disposables are - with a higher nicotine content or using Nicotine Salt eliquids. Browse our selection of mouth to lung vapes and take a look at our specifically designed range of mouth to lung vape liquids to create the perfect mouth to lung vape pairing.
